Cracks as unifying element. Breaks. Broken peace, which is no peace but silence, which is no silence but tense lethargy. Break-up. Fragments of bodies, which give an idea of movement. Cracks in walls. Breaking the everyday inanimate routine, which surrounds us. Captured details of one of the realities contained therein. Traces of strange human actions. Cracks in conventions. Figures scratching Kitsch. Reproductions or pictures of animals and humans that shall evoke sympathy, but seem bizarre. Traces of deconstruction of these images. Cracks in normality. Cracks in daily grind.
Johannes Schebler’s photographies show his eye for detail, his preference for structures and his focus on mostly unnoticed aspects or unordinary situations.
